Natchez woman sentenced for child deprivation | Crime
A Natchez woman has been sentenced to one year of house arrest after pleading guilty to felony child deprivation.
Venicia Firley, 26, was arrested in June 2011 after an investigation into an incident involving her two children.
Firley left her 2-year-old and 4-year-old children alone at their Natchez home in May 2011.
While she was away, the house caught on fire, and firefighters found the two children covered in soot and unresponsive in a room of the home, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
The children were treated for smoke inhalation, but were not burned in the fire.
